I started Sonic Debrief because I love audio gear, but I am tired of the weird theater around it.
Too many reviews act like every product needs to be judged by the same pre-loaded list of audiophile-approved tracks. The same female vocal. The same jazz recording. The same perfectly recorded acoustic guitar. The same tiny ritual repeated over and over like the gear is being blessed instead of tested.
That stuff has its place, but it is not how most people actually listen.
I want to know what happens when the gear gets thrown into real life. Does it make rock sound thin? Does EDM hit? Can I understand dialogue at night without waking the house? Does gaming feel immersive? Does the app suck? Does HDMI behave? Does EQ save it? Does it still sound good after the new-toy excitement wears off?
I am not anti-audiophile.
I am anti-bullshit.
Sonic Debrief exists because audio gear should be reviewed like it has a mission. What is it supposed to do? How was it deployed? What happened in the field? What technical intel matters? Where did it impress? What got in the way? And at the end of all that, did it complete the mission?
No hype. No snake oil. Just the debrief.
